Today (2/20) in 1980
Today (2/20) in 1980: The seedings came out for the section 2 tournament today. Here's the Times Union article:

The Class A bracket looked like this:

A few notes:
1) Different seeding method: Note that the Big 10 and Subruban weren't automatically crossed in 1979-80, so you got some first round matchups between teams from the same league.
2) Except for the Bison, the Suburban was weak: Note that after Shaker, the Big 10 has the next six seeds. And that had some people wondering. Sure, Shaker was ranked #1 in the state. And sure, they had won their games by an average of almost 30 ponts. And sure, they blew Albany out of the water in their one meeting with a Big 10 school. But maybe Mont Pleasant - who was 20-2 - could give them a game. Doubtful, but people were looking forward to it.
3) First round bloodbath: Shaker's two possible opponents - Gibbons and Bethlehem - were a combined 1-39 on the season. Not exactly an important play-in game...
